Software Support for Myri-10G NICs
The Ethernet software bundle (+E at the end of NIC product codes) includes a license to the Myricom 10-Gigabit Ethernet software (the Myri10GE software distribution), and also the first year of tech support and software updates. All Myri-10G NICs include this software bundle, which is all you need for conventional TCP/IP and UDP/IP applications of Myri-10G NICs.
Optional software: The MX1 (Myrinet Express v1) software bundle (+MX1 at the end of NIC product codes) includes a license to use the MX v1 kernel-bypass software package for both Ethernet and Myrinet networks, and the first year of tech support. If you have Myri-10G NICs purchased with the Ethernet (+E) software bundle and wish to run the MX software, you can order the following:
Other optional software distributions, such as Video PumpTM for low-CPU-load UDP streaming for IPTV applications, software for capturing 10-Gigabit Ethernet traffic, and others, are licensed separately. Contact the Myricom Sales Team for additional information, which must generally be under an NDA.
To extend the period for tech support and software updates beyond the first year, you should order the following:
Network Interface Cards (NICs)
See this Guide to Myri-10G PHYs (pdf) for detailed information about the different types of network ports. In brief, however:
- SFP+ ports can be used with SFP+ optical-fiber transceivers for 10GBase-SR, 10GBase-LR, and other communication over serial fiber, or with Direct Attach twinax copper cables.
- XFP ports are used with XFP optical-fiber transceivers for 10GBase-SR, 10GBase-LR, and other communication over serial fiber.
- CX4 ports are used for 10GBase-CX4 communication over copper cables up to 15m in length.
- QSFP ports are used with QSFP-terminated copper cables up to 5m in length, or with QSFP-terminated Electrical-Optical-Electrical (EOE) fiber cables. This type of port is used principally for HPC clusters.
- The ports of an IBM BladeCenter H High Speed Expansion Card (HSEC) connect from the mezzanine card on the blade to the mid-plane of the BladeCenter H chassis.
