Two of these fan assemblies are included with each M3-CLOS-ENCL-B and M3-SPINE-ENCL-B enclosure. The fan assemblies can be individually hot-swapped. Each assembly includes two 4.5-inch fans operating in series, and the fans provide tachometer outputs. The connector on the M3-FAN-B plugs into a small circuit board in the enclosure. The microcontroller and other circuitry on this circuit board adjusts the fan speed according to temperature measurements within the enclosure, and reports the M3-FAN-B status through the low-speed network within the enclosure.
Physical characteristics: Dimensions: 7 inches (177.8mm) high by 7 inches (177.8mm) wide by 5.5 inches (139.7mm) deep. Weight: 3.0 pounds (1.36 kg).
Environmental limits: Operating: Temperature 15C to 50C (inlet air) up to 10,000 foot altitude. Relative humidity 15% to 80% @ 50C, non-condensing. Storage: Temperature -40C to 70C. Relative humidity 90% @ 65C.
Regulatory Approvals: When properly installed in Myricom M3-CLOS-ENCL-B or M3-SPINE-ENCL-B enclosures, the M3-FAN-B unit is fully compliant with EN55024 (1998), EN55022 Class A (1998), VCCI Class A (May 1999), FCC Part 15 Subpart B Class A, CISPR 22/85 Class A, ICES-003 Class A (ANSI C63.4 1992), and AS/NZS 3548 Class A (w/A1 & A2 1997). (View the EMC test report.)
Note: This "B" version M3-FAN-B is similar to the original M3-FAN, but the direction of air flow is reversed. In order to prevent using an M3-FAN in a -B enclosure or an M3-FAN-B in the original enclosures, the positioning of the attachment screws was altered .
