M2FM-SW8 8-Port Myrinet Switch with 4 LAN ports and 4 SAN ports |
The internal 8-port Myrinet crossbar switch provides 4 of its ports directly as SAN ports, and 4 of its ports through SAN/LAN conversion circuitry as LAN ports. In addition to being a Myrinet switch, the M2FM-SW8 can serve as a converter between up to 4 Myrinet-LAN and up to 4 Myrinet-SAN links. The SAN ports operate at the 1.28+1.28 Gb/s data rate, and the LAN ports operate at either the 0.64+0.64 Gb/s or 1.28+1.28 Gb/s data rates depending upon the LAN-cable type.
This switch consumes only 6 Watts (typical), requires no cooling fan, and has an MTBF in excess of 1,000,000 hours.
Internal switch: 8-input, 8-output, full-crossbar implementation with each channel operating at 1.28 Gb/s for a total bisection data rate of 10.24 Gb/s.
Myrinet-LAN ports (4): 0.64+0.64 Gb/s or 1.28+1.28 Gb/s data rates selected automatically by the LAN-cable type.
Myrinet-SAN ports (4): 1.28+1.28 Gb/s data rate on each of the A and B links of two Myrinet-SAN connectors. These links may be split onto separate cables using the M2M-Y splitter.
Cut-through latency: ~300ns between pairs of LAN ports; ~200ns between LAN and SAN ports; ~100ns between pairs of SAN ports.
Physical characteristics: 10"x6.5"x1", 1.25 lbs, plus a separate power supply, 6.75" x 3.5" x 2.25", 3/4 lbs. Maximum-operating ambient temperature 50C.
Power: 6 Watts typical. Power supply input 85-264 VAC, 47-440 Hz, 20 Watts maximum, supplied with IEC line cord appropriate to the shipping destination.

M2FM-SW8 switch attached to four LAN cables and two SAN cables. Each SAN cable carries two links. The cable at the upper right conveys +12V DC power input from the separate power supply to the switch.
