M2M-DUAL-SW8 Dual 8-Port Myrinet-SAN Switch |
This compact, Myrinet-SAN switch is designed for "in-cabinet"
clusters that employ Myrinet-SAN interfaces such as the M2M-PCI32
or M2M-PCI64A, and Myrinet-SAN
cables. As viewed from the top, this dual switch has the following dimensions
and connector configuration.

The M2M-DUAL-SW8 is 0.8 inches high, operates on only 5 Watts, and is adequately cooled by convection from its top cover (~0.1W per square inch) provided that ~1 inch of clearance from the top cover is provided.
For "starter-kit" applications with up to 8 hosts, switch B and the B links on the Myrinet-SAN connectors will be unused. For applications up to 14 hosts, the A and B switches can be connected using an M2M-X A-B link on one of the SAN connectors, and using M2M-Y splitters on the other connectors.
The M2FM-SW8 switch (4 SAN ports plus 4 LAN ports) may be used to convert SAN links within these in-cabinet clusters to LAN links to connect to external Myrinet hosts.
Internal switches: Two 8-input, 8-output, full-crossbar, Myrinet-SAN switches with each channel operating at 1.28 Gb/s, providing a total bisection data rate of 10.24 Gb/s for each switch.
Myrinet-SAN ports (16): 1.28+1.28 Gb/s data rate on each of the A and B links of eight Myrinet-SAN connectors. These links may be split onto separate cables using the M2M-Y splitter.
Cut-through latency: ~100ns.
Physical characteristics: 8.2"x6.2"x1", 1 lbs, plus a separate power supply. Maximum-operating ambient temperature 50C.
Power: 5 Watts typical. Power supply input 85-264 VAC, 47-440 Hz, 20 Watts maximum, supplied with IEC line cord appropriate to the shipping destination.
