Price Reduction for "D Card" Myrinet/PCI-X Interfaces

Myricom is pleased to announce a $100 reduction in the list price of the popular M3F-PCIXD-2 "D card" interface. This price reduction is effective for product shipments after 15 November 2003.

The list price of the M3F-PCIXD-2 Myrinet-Fiber/PCI-X interface is now $695.

The D card became Myricom's highest volume product immediately after it was introduced in May 2003. Myricom is able to reduce the price due to the favorable effects of volume on costs, and due to decreasing costs of certain of the components.

These 64-bit, 133MHz, Myrinet/PCI-X interfaces also support PCI protocols for use in 64-bit, 66MHz PCI slots. In hosts with PCI-X slots, with either GM-2 or MX software support, D cards achieve user-level undirectional data rates of ~248MB/s, and summed-bidirectional data rates of ~490MB/s, closely approaching the data rates of the 250+250 MB/s Myrinet-Fiber port. The user level MPI latency is ~6.8µs using MPICH-GM over GM 2, or ~4µs using MPICH-MX over MX (available soon).

Myrinet D cards are now in use together with GM 2 in hundreds of clusters world-wide. The two largest of these new clusters are near the top of the November 2003 TOP500® list of supercomputing sites:

• The Tungsten cluster at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications ranked #4 at 9819 Gflops. Tungsten contains 1280 dual 3.06GHz Xeon hosts, and was supplied to NCSA by Dell.
• The Lightning cluster at Los Alamos National Laboratory ranked #6 at 8051 Gflops. Lightning contains 1408 dual 2GHz Opteron hosts, and was supplied to LANL by Linux Networx.
