Booth Demonstrations. The Myricom booth pictured above had a theme for each of the four corners, and a pair of back-to-back plasma displays in the middle. The plasma displays were driven by a pair of Apple dual-2GHz G5s, which were also connected to the booth's Myrinet-fiber network. The corner themes:

The presentations on the central plasma displays were devoted to the November-2003 TOP500, and to expositions of Myrinet components and software, but these slide shows could be pre-empted for live demos involving the G5s.

The Myricom booth was crowded most of the time. The attendance at SC2003, reported to be 7,300 [the final attendance figure was 7,641], was up even in comparison with SC2002 in Baltimore. The Myricom attendees saw many old friends, and we gave away all of the 700 Myrinet penguins we brought as "favors."

Other Highlights. In addition to the exhibits, the list of TOP500 supercomputer sites was released Sunday, 16 November, at the beginning of SC2003. The number of TOP500 clusters using Myrinet technology grew from 178 (35.6%) to 194 (38.8%) in the 5 months from June 2003 to November 2003. As noted in this November-2003 TOP500 news item, this TOP500 list included two Myrinet clusters in the top 10, the #4 1280-node Tungsten cluster at NCSA, and the #6 1408-node Lightning cluster at LANL.

Also, Myricom is proud to have received the HPCwire reader's choice award as the "Networking vendor delivering the greatest price performance solution for 2003" for Myricom's Myrinet-2000 products.

Phoenix was at its best during SC2003, with warm weather and clear skies.

We're now looking forward to ISC2004, to be held 22-25 June 2004 in Heidelberg, and to SC2004, to be held (earlier than usual) 6-12 November 2004 in Pittsburgh.
