Myricom at CeBIT 2004
Myricom was very pleased to cooperate with IBM in displaying a BladeCenter cluster interconnected with Myrinet in the IBM booth at CeBIT 2004.
The photograph to the right shows David PeGan, Myricom's VP, Director of Sales, standing with a friend in front of the BladeCenter cluster. David was at this location for much of CeBIT 2004.
Myricom started supplying the high-speed cluster interconnect for the IBM BladeCenter in September 2003 (see this news story). Each blade has a small PCI-X daughter card (HCA), the same functions and software as the popular Myrinet-Fiber/PCI-X "D card," but connecting through high-speed midplane links to a network module in the rear of the BladeCenter. The optical-fiber links out of the network module connect to standard Myrinet switches.
The BladeCenter cluster demonstrated at CeBIT 2004 used the new IBM "JS20" blades with dual PowerPC64 processors. These JS20 blades offer exceptionally high compute performance, and the IO path to the 64-bit, 133MHz, Myrinet/PCI-X HCA exhibits excellent communication performance.
