Sockets-GM Software

Sockets-GM is an implementation of the standard UNIX and Windows sockets interface directly over the GM API.

Sockets-GM is currently available for Linux, Solaris, and Windows (Windows 2000 and higher). Sockets-GM enables applications using the socket interface to be directly mapped onto the Myrinet network using the low level GM API.

Depending on the operating system, Sockets-GM has been implemented using different approaches. For Windows 2000, XP and higher, Sockets-GM is available as a Layered Service Provider (LSP). For Windows 2000 Advanced Server Sp2 and higher, Datacenter Server and Windows 2003 Server, Sockets-GM is also available as a Winsock Direct Proxy implementation (WSD). For Linux and Solaris, Sockets-GM is available as a shared or static library. For Linux 2.4 and Linux 2.6, Sockets-GM is also available as a kernel module implementation.

Sockets-GM has been tested on Linux 2.4 and Linux 2.6.8 (IA32, IA64, AMD64), on Windows (IA32, IA64, x86_64), and Solaris.

Sockets-GM requires gm-1.5.2.1 or later. For GM-2 installations, Sockets-GM V1.1.6 or later is required.
