Performance of GM-2.1.27_Solaris and Sun HPC ClusterTools

The current GM-2 software releases for Solaris on UltraSPARC, x86, and AMD64 hosts are GM-2.0.27_Solaris and GM-2.1.27_Solaris. For further details, please refer to the Solaris Download Page.

The following performance data was collected with GM version 2.1.27_Solaris. When viewing this data, please keep the following details in mind:

The graphs show performance measurements for M3F2-PCIXE Myrinet NICs under GM 2.1.27_Solaris between a quad-2.4-GHz AMD Opteron host and a dual-1.8-GHz AMD Opteron host. These hosts have 64-bit/133MHz PCI-X slots with PCI-DMA performance of 760+ MB/s bus read (send), 1032 MB/s bus write (recv), and 875+ MB/s bus read write, as reported by the GM-2 gm_debug utility.

The quad-2.4-GHz AMD Opteron machine has 1 GB memory and is running Solaris 10 for AMD64 on a 64-bit kernel (SunOS 5.10 Generic_Patch_118844_30 i86pc i386 i86pc), Sun Studio compilers (Sun C 5.8 2005/10/13), and using the gm-2.1.27_Solaris release with sparc streaming turned off. The other dual-1.8-GHz AMD Opteron machine has 2 GB memory and is running the same version of GM but under Linux 2.6.5-7.151-smp.
