The XBar8 chip is a complete, Myrinet-SAN switch. All that a designer needs to know to use the XBar8 on a circuit board is what to connect to each pin. Standard Myrinet-SAN connector pinouts are specified in the the ANSI/VITA 26-1998 Standard, which also provides design rules for handling the high-speed, low-voltage, controlled-impedance Myrinet-SAN signals. ======================================================================== XBar8 pins/signals GND : 0V Vdd : 3.3V +/- 5%, ~500mA max. LVdd : 1.25V +/- 5%, ~250mA max. RS- : reset (active low) must be held low for at least 10 milliseconds after the power supplies are stable TxC, RxC : connect to 80 MHz. There are no restrictions on the skew between TxC and RxC TD0, TD1 : determines timeout interval. 00 = 1/16 sec 01 = 1/4 sec 10 = 1 sec 11 = 4 sec W0, W1 : determines window interval width (internal timing adjustment for testing). Tie both pins high. OAL : tie through 50 ohms to LVdd (sets output impedance) OAH : tie through 50 ohms to GND (sets output impedance) Vth : LVdd/2, generated typically with a 5Kohm-5Kohm voltage divider from LVdd bypassed by 0.027uF. ibias : tie through 1.69Kohm to Vdd, bypass with 0.027uF. The 160 signal names for the port signals, {i, o}{0, 1, ... 7}{0, 1, ... , 7, d, b} (as defined also in the LANai specs) are formed as {input or output *signal*}{port number}{bit}. Please note that i00, i01, i02, i03, i04, i05, i06, i07, i0d, and o0b are for the port 0 input channel, and o00, o01, o02, o03, o04, o05, o06, o07, o0d, and i0b are for the port 0 output channel.
